LICSW, LCSW
I work with people looking to heal past trauma and address the root cause of emotional and behavioral responses in their lives. By looking at and getting to know the parts of ourselves that experience difficult things, we can bring healing and integration back to our lives and bodies. As a member of the LGBTQ community and an adopted person, I offer a space that is inclusive and knowledgeable from lived experience. Additionally, I am passionate about engaging with people who have questions about spirituality, religious trauma, or are seeking to better identify their own beliefs.
In practice, you’ll find that I primarily blend two modalities, DBT and IFS. DBT, or Dialectical Behavior Therapy, is a modality rooted in observing, regulating, and processing difficult emotions. This work assists people in developing skills to attend to their own needs when feelings take over. IFS, or Internal Family Systems, is a modality aimed at getting to know the parts of ourselves that feel stuck or out of sync with the rest of us. It's a compassionate way of looking at the internal conflict that often arises as a result of traumatic or distressing experiences. Ultimately, I work from an eclectic lens. I work collaboratively to personalize my approach to the client in front of me and the goals they have for our work together. In addition, I emphasize emotional literacy and education, as I believe that knowledge of what is going on within is in itself a powerful tool.
I hold an MSW from Walden University and a B.A. in music from Samford University where I studied voice. A native southerner, my husband and I have enjoyed living and working in New England since 2020.
